Tahoma Cabin Remodel

This full gut remodel of an original 1960s home on the beautiful hillside of west-shore in Tahoe brought modern functionality and a peaceful transformation to a family mountain escape. Unbeatable views drove this design to expand a lakeside window wall, enlarge a kitchen for more communial living, and reclaim available crawlspace for extra bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs to house a growing family tree. We installed custom white oak cabinetry, honed quartz countertops, engineered hardwood flooring, new electrical and spray foam insulation to improve performance and extend longevity.

Architectural features of the original building were preserved where possible, like the central brick fireplace, T&G ceilings and wrought iron railings. A black exterior brings this mid-century into a modern CA aesthetic.

They chose new Anderson casement windows, engineered hardwood flooring, new birch craftsman doors and reworked the interior layout to section off a private attached ADU for relatives & AirBnb renters.

Are we the right builder for your project?

We’re a full-service general contractor. Our favorite projects are major home remodels, ADUs and high-performance new homes. A good way to gauge if we’re the right builder for your project is to consider if it requires an architect or an interior designer, is large enough to employ one of our site leads full-time or incorporates high-performance building techniques and sustainable materials.

Do you do smaller jobs like tile a bathroom?

We don’t provide standalone trade services that aren’t part of a larger remodel. For projects like these, the best place to start is to find a business that sells those materials and ask them to recommend an installer. Look on NextDoor or start asking around the old-fashioned way to start your search.

Do you offer free quotes?

Yes! We offer free, no-obligation quotes based on a set of plans. After an initial consultation, we’ll assess your project needs and provide a detailed estimate so you know exactly what to expect. Don't have plans yet? We can draw basic plans in-house or refer you to our network of architects & designers.

Where do you build?

We have offices in South Lake Tahoe and Bishop, CA and we primarliy work with within those cities. However, we like building high-end new homes! So, we’ve recently made the decision to stretch our geographic boundaries into the High Sierra, servicing areas like Mammoth, June Lake, and other remote neighborhoods.

Do you provide a guarantee for your work?

Absolutely! We stand by the quality of our craftsmanship and offer guarantees on our work to give you peace of mind. Specific warranties may vary depending on the type of project, just ask us for details.

How long does a typical project take?

Project timelines vary depending on the scope of work and location. Things like weather can be unpredictable from season to season. We do build year round except excavating in the Tahoe basin, which can only happen from May-October. Interior jobs are great to do when there's snow on the ground. We can talk about your specific job in more detail, and will provide clear timelines before starting any work.
